BUILT 1973 BY ASTILLEROS ESPANOLES SA (FACTORIA DE CADIZ), CADIZ. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY VENHA MARITIME LTD. CAUGHT FIRE, AFTER DISCHARGING PART CARGO WHILE IN GENOA ROADS OFF PEGLI. AN EXPLOSION FOLLOWED SEVERELY DAMAGING THE VESSEL (?BOW BLOWN OFF) AND VESSEL ABANDONED. LATER TOWED INSHORE TO MINIMISE OIL POLLUTION (THOUGHT TO BE 1 MILLION BARRELS OF CRUDE OIL), BUT SANK FOLLOWING FURTHER EXPLOSIONS. 29 CREW SAVED, SIX DIED. (MSD).
