Circumstances of loss

BUILT IN 1904. A 1ST CLASS BATTLESHIP. WAS TORPEDOED AND SUNK WHILE APPROACHING GIBRALTAR IN COMPANY WITH TWO DESTROYERS. STRUCK AMIDSHIPS, EXPLODING A QUANTITY OF CORDITE. SANK SOME THREE HOURS LATER, WITH A LOSS OF 40 OF HER COMPANY. SHE WAS THE LAST BRITISH WARSHIP TO BE LOST IN WW1. (DODS & COLLEDGE).
