Circumstances of loss

VESSEL, BUILT 1911 BY STABILIMENTO TECHNICO. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY AUSTRIAN NAVY. TWO ITALIAN NAVAL OFFICERS ATTACHED A LARGE BOMB TO THE VESSEL WHILST SHE WAS LYING OFF POLA. THEY WERE DISCOVERED & CAPTURED. [THE AUSTRIAN NAVY HAD, BY THEN, BEEN TRANSFERRED TO JUGO-SLAVIA & FOR THEM THE WAR WAS OVER]. THE ITALIANS THEN WARNED OF THE PRESENCE OF THE BOMB. THE VESSEL WAS ABANDONED, SOON AFTER BLEW UP & SANK WITHOUT LOSS OF LIFE. (DODS).
