WAS PART OF THE FORCE ATTEMPTING TO FORCE A PASSAGE THROUGH THE DARDANELLES. WAS STRUCK BY A SHELL FIRED FROM FORT HAMIDIEH AND STARTED TO LIST. LATER STRUCK A MINE WHILE DRIFTING. SANK AFTER MANY OF THE CREW WERE RESCUED AND ABORTIVE ATTEMPTS TO TOW HER OUT OF RANGE OF THE SHORE GUNS. (DODS).
