8.11.1936 BUILT IN 1922 BY DEUTSCHE WERFT, HAMBURG. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY THE HAMBURG-AMERIKA LINIE. OIL ENGINES OF 717NHP. PASSAGE HAMBURG FOR NEW YORK. REPORTED TO BE IN DISTRESS WITH NO 1 HATCH STOVE IN ON 8.11.1936 IN 493400N, 110900W. SEVERAL SHIPS WENT TO HER ASSISTANCE BUT SHE SANK BEFORE HELP ARRIVED. ONE SURVIVOR OF THE CREW OF 40, A CABIN BOY, WAS PICKED UP BY SS 'WESTERNLAND'. (DODS).
