Surveying Details 20.2.07 20.2.07 REMAINS LIE IN 5403.303N, 0446.449W [WGD]. LIES IN GEN DEPTH 20MTRS AND STANDS ABOUT 0.75MTR HIGH. LENGTH 15MTRS, WIDTH 3MTRS APPROX. LIES N/S. CONSISTS SOLEY OF THE IRON OBJECTS WHICH WERE ON BOARD, NAMELY ANCHORS, CHABLE, HAWSE PIPES AND WINDLASS, TOGETHER WITH OTHER UNIDENTIFIED ITEMS WHICH ARE CONCRETED TO THE SEABED. WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BOW FACES OUTWARDS FROM THE CLIFF. SEABED OF SMALL STONES. ASSUMED TO BE JANE BROWN FROM CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE. (A CORKILL, EMAIL DTD 20.2.07). INS AS FOUL. BR STD.

Circumstances of loss

BUILT OF WOOD IN 1834. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY JONES & CO. PASSAGE RUNCORN FOR AYR. PASSED THE CALF LIGHTS BUT WIND VEERED NW AND INCREASED TO A GALE ACCOMPANIED BY A FOG. FORYARD CARRIED AWAY, VESSEL BECAME UNMANAGABLE AND DRIFTED ONTO ROCKS ON THE CALF OF MAN. CREW TOOK TO THE BOAT AND LANDED SAFELY. SHORTLY AFTER THE SCHOONER BACKED OFF AND DRIFTED TO SPANISH HEAD WHERE SHE BECAME A TOTAL WK. (A CORKILL).
