22.7.75 VESSEL, BUILT 1840 [CIRCA], WAS DRIVEN ASHORE ON THE CALF OF MAN, WHILST EN-ROUTE LIVERPOOL TO AMBRAZO. VESSEL WAS TAKEN OVER BY LOCAL LLOYDS AGENT, BUT EXPLODED AS THE RESULT OF A FIRE THE FOLLOWING DAY. (DODS & A NEWTON, LTR DTD 22.7.75). DRIVEN ASHORE AT KITTERLAND IN CALF SOUND. 5 CREW LOST AT TIME OF GROUNDING & 29 SALVERS WHEN VESSEL EXPLODED THE NEXT DAY. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY HATTEN & COOKSON. (DICTIONARY OF SHIPWRECKS OFF ISLE OF MAN)
