BUILT IN 1969 BY KANASASHI ZOSENSHO, SHIMIZU. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY OCEANGATE SHIPPING. PASSAGE GENOA FOR TAROUS. CREW ABANDONED AND WERE RECOVERED. SINKING BEING INVESTIGATED AS POSSIBLE INSURANCE FRAUD. CARGO IS SUSPECTED TO HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED TO AN UNIDENTIFIED VESSEL DURING VOYAGE GENOA TO TARTOUS AND THEN LIBERTY WAS SCUTTLED. (MSD).
