DAPPER CLASS GUNBOAT. LOST IN GALWAY BAY UNDER THE COMMAND OF LT G.R. BELL. (SHIPS OF THE ROYAL NAVY, COLLEDGE) BUILT 1855 AT DEPTFORD DOCKYARD, DEPTFORD, WITH 2 CYLINDER SIMPLE ENGINE, SINGLE SHAFT, 1 BOILER. EMPLOYED ON COASTGUARD DUTIES, VESSEL WAS PASSING BETWEEN INISHEER & COAST ON PASSAGE QUEENSTOWN TO GALWAY, IN FOG. WENT ASHORE ON CRAB ISLAND, OFF DOONLIN PT. ATTEMPTS TO REFLOAT BY LIGHTENING FAILED AND VESSEL BROKE UP A GALE. SOLD TO MR WILSON, OF QUEENSTOWN FOR SCRAP. 34 CREW RESCUED. (SII & SHIPWRECKS OF THE IRISH COAST)
