PASSAGE THE CLYDE FOR MALTA IN CONVOY. FIRST ATTACKED BY ITALIAN SUBMARINE 'AXUM' THEN DAMAGED BY REPEATED BOMBING FROM ENEMY A/C. SERIOUSLY DAMAGED BUT MANAGED TO REACH MALTA ON AUG 15TH 1942. REPAIR NOT FEASABLE. TOWED OUT OF GRAND HARBOUR & SUNK BY GUNFIRE FROM HM DESTROYERS. (FO MALTA, 181536A & LLWW2).
