Circumstances of loss
TORPEDOED BY GERMAN AIRCRAFT.Positional Analysis: The wreck lies 7nm north of the position given in War Losses (1989)>Archival Analysis: PERSEUS was stuck by an air launched torpedo 12nm north of Bardsey. The explosion blew off the stern, aft of No3 hold. Theship drifted for at least two hours before foundering, sinking by the stern, and leaning to starboard (TNA ADM 199/2136).
