ON VOYAGE FROM PLYMOUTH TO CARDIFF WITH BALLAST WHEN SHE STRUCK FAR OUT IN THE SURF OFF PORTREATH DURING A NNW GALE. LIGHTNING AND HEAVY RAIN SQUALLS HID HER FLARES AND ROCKETS AND AT DAWN HER SHATTERED HULL, FESTOONED WITH CHAINS AND ROPES, EBBED DRY OFF WHEAL SALLY CLIFF. (CORNISH SHIPWRECKS VOL 2).
