FURTHER DOWN SLOPE IN GEN DEPTH 35MTRS IS THE LARGELY INTACT FOREPEAK ON ITS PORT SIDE WITH A LARGE TANK BEYOND IT. PHOTO OF VESSEL. 28.12.56 EX-HMS OLIVE, MINESWEEPING TRAWLER, BUILT IN 1940 BY HALL RUSSELL, ABERDEEN. SOLD OUT OF SERVICE IN 1948 TO A SWEDISH COMPANY, RENAMED 'SAMBA' AND COVERTED TO CARRYING FUEL OIL. PASSAGE ROTTERDAM FOR ODDA. REPORTED LEAKING & WITHOUT POWER IN BAD WEATHER. DRIFTED FOR TWO DAYS WHILE VARIOUS ATTEMPTS TO TOW HER FAILED. ABANDONED, CREW RESCUED & EVENTUALLY GROUNDED ON ROCKS AT RUGGEN, NESS OF SOUND ON 28.12.56. NO SIGN OF VESSEL ON FOLLOWING DAY. PRESUMED TO HAVE BROKEN UP & SUNK IN DEEP WATER.
