HH288/450/03 25.11.97 FISHERMAN LOST NETS IN 544413N, 053624W [OGB]. (MSA, NORTHERN IRELAND) HH288/450/03 25.11.97 NETS NOT LOCATED BY DIVER IN PREVIOUS POSN. LOCATED BY GRAPNEL IN 544414.5N, 053626.5W [OGB]. FOUND TO BE ENTANGLED IN PIECE OF SHIP'S HULL PLATING. DIMENSIONS OF DEBRIS APPROX 7MTRS BY 2.5MTRS BY 2MTRS HIGH. UPPERMOST EDGE OF PLATING HAD BEEN ROUGHLY CUT BY GAS TORCH OR THERMIC LANCE. IMMEDIATELY BELOW THIS EDGE THE PLATING WAS SEVERELY DISTORTED, SECTIONS OF THE PLATE HAD BEEN BENT ROUND ON ITSELF AND THERE WERE SEVERAL AREAS WHERE THE PLATING HAD BEEN TORN APART. THERE WAS PRESENCE OF A LIGHT MARINE GROWTH ON THE PLATING AND IN SEVERAL AREAS A PINKISH-RED PAINT COAT WAS VISIBLE. NETS NOT DISENTANGLED DUE TO NO DIVE TIME REMAINING. (DOWN DIVING SERVICES, VIA MSA, NORTHERN IRELAND, LTR DTD 18.11.97). INS AS OBSTN USC 28MTRS. - NM 33/98. 18.3.04 [EUT] POSN 5444.242N, 0536.502W. NE 1753. 24.9.10 EXAM'D 2008. NOT LOCATED BY M/B. (HMS ENTERPRISE, HI 1263). AMEND FOUL. BR STD. SEP 2019/000054120 18.12.19 NOT LOCATED IN M/B DATASET (2019). (CLINTON MARINE SURVEY AB, HI1581). AMEND DEAD.

VESSEL GROUNDED AFTER PILOT ERROR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER MILFORD HAVEN. MAJOR OIL SPILL ENSUED. AFTER REFLOATING VESSEL TAKEN TO N IRELAND FOR DOCKING AND EXTENSIVE UNDERWATER STEELWORK REPAIRS.
