BUILT IN 1971 BY MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENGINEERING CO LTD, ICKIHARA. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY KOREA TONGHAE SHIPPING CO. 224,841 DWT. STRUCK BY EXOCET MISSILE WHILE LOADING ALONGSIDE SEA ISLAND TERMINAL DURING LOW-LEVEL AIR ATTACK BY IRAQI AIRCRAFT. MISSILE EXPLODED AND CAUSED A RAGING FIRE WHICH BURNED OUT AND SANK THE TANKER AND DESTROYED HER CRUDE OIL CARGO. THE TERMINAL WAS ALSO DESTROYED. TWO MEN LOST. (MSD).
