SEP 2019/000054120 19.12.19 EXAM�D 12.9.19 IN 5452.925N, 0545.174W [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 13.66MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 21MTRS. LENGTH 45MTRS, WIDTH 14MTRS, HT 7MTRS. ORIENTATION 302/122DEGS. Circumstances of loss

BUILT IN 1872. RAN AGROUND ON HUNTER ROCK WHILST EN-ROUTE GLASGOW TO LARNE. FOUR TUGS UNABLE TO PULL VESSEL OFF ROCK & SHE EVENTUALLY BROKE IN THREE. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY STATE STEAMSHIP CO. LTD. 3 MASTED IRON VESSEL, BUILT ON CLYDE, RAN AGROUND ON HUNTER ROCKS. THE BUOY MARKING THE ROCK HAD BEEN DISPLACED AND WAS 400 YARDS FROM ITS CORRECT POSN. VESSEL WAS BADLY HOLED ON ROCKS. CREW & PASSENGERS RESCUED. WK WAS ADVERTISED FOR SALE IN JANUARY 1879, BUT EVENTUALLY BROKE UP. SHE WAS IDENTIFIED BY DIVERS IN 1966 WHO FOUND A CHAMBER POT BEARING THE COMPANY CREST.
