BUILT 1955 BY MOSS VAERFT & DOKK A/S, MOSS. OWNED AT THE TIME OF LOSS BY KAPPA SHIPPING CO. PASSAGE ANTWERP FOR ANNABA. STARTED MAKING WATER IN VERY STORMY SEAS NEAR LEIXOES. THE MASTER RADIOED LEIXOES THAT HE HAD AN INJURED MAN ONBOARD & PROPOSED TO ENTER LEIXOES HARBOUR, THE PORT AUTHORITIES ADVISED THE VESSEL NOT TO ENTER DUE TO THE ATROCIOUS CONDITIONS. THE VESSEL SANK WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE HARBOUR WITH THE LOSS OF 21 OF THE 24 CREW MEMBERS. (MSD).
