HOWEVER FISHERMAN REPORTS FASTENER IN 520400N, 134100W IN GEN DEPTH 431MTRS. (SWIRE PACIFIC OFFSHORE, TELEX 1.7.86). 18.7.86 LACONIA FOUND. IDENTIFIED BY RECOVERED COPPER-BOTTOMED BAKING POT BEARING NAME. POSN NOT YET AVAILABLE. (J THOROGOOD, SWIRE PACIFIC OFFSHORE, TELECON 18.7.86).

PASSAGE NEW YORK FOR LIVERPOOL. TORPEDOED AND SUNK BY U-50. CARGO INCLUDED 852 SILVER INGOTS, 132 BOXES OF FINE SILVER, 4,545,738 LBS OF EMPTY BRASS SHELL CASES, 3000 TONS OF STEEL, 2843 BALES OF COTTON AND 5400 SACKS OF MAIL. 6 CREW AND SIX PASSENGERS LOST.
