CARGO INCLUDED RIFLES AND A TOMBSTONE COMMEMORATING A WOMAN WHO DIED IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS IN 1858. THIS, AND MOST OF THE RIFLES HAVE BEEN RECOVERED. (K MACDONALD, TELECON). INS AS NDW. BR STD. H1310/88 28.6.88 DIVED IN 1987. LIES N/S [BOWS N] HALF BURIED ON S SIDE OF SHINGLES BANK. LEAST DEPTH AT LW ABOUT 34MTRS. ABOUT 120-150FT LONG, 25-30FT BEAM. WOODEN SV CONSTRUCTED USING LONG BRASS PINS. RUDDER STILL ATTACHED TO HULL. CARGO APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN 1/2 BOTTLES OF WINE. SOME ARE STILL INTACT. SUSPECTED TO HAVE BEEN A SMUGGLER'S VESSEL AND TO BE OVER 150 YEARS OLD. (P A VAN DER BOON). NFA. 4.1.07 ASSESSED IN 1984 AND OBSERVED TO BE CARVEL BUILT (OF SCOTS PINE) AND COPPER-CLAD WITH A LAYER OF TAR-FELT. FOREMAST AND RUDDER WERE STILL IN POSN. NO DECKS WERE OBSERVED BUT FORE AND AFT BULKHEADS BORDERING THE FOREPEAK AND QUARTERS WERE RECORDED. AMIDSHIPS ON THE PORT SIDE, DAMAGE WAS RECORDED CONSISTENT WITH A COLLISION. IN 2005 VERY LITTLE STRUCTURE NOTED ABOVE THE SEABED. THERE WAS NO MAGNETIC ANOMALY. CONSIDERED BY NATIONAL MUSEUM OF DENMARK TO BE SIGNIFICANT AS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED WITH THE AID OF DRAWINGS DURING AN ERA WHEN DRAWINGS IN THE LOCAL TRADITION WERE VERY RARE. AREA 100MTRS RADIUS AROUND 5043.401N, 0035.816 [WGD] TO BE RECOMMENDED FOR DESIGNATION. (M DUNKLEY, ENGLISH HERITAGE, EMAIL DTD 4.1.07). NCA. 10.6.11 LOCATED 27.9.11 IN 5043.3970N, 0035.8077E [WGD] USING DGPS. LENGTH 8.7MTRS, WIDTH 5.3MTRS. DCS3 HT 0.2MTR. STRONG MAGNETIC ANOMALY. IN AREA OF SANDWAVES. (WESSEX ARCHAEOLOGY, REPORT REC'D 9.6.11). APPEARS AS AN AREA OF DEBRIS. AMEND FOUL IN REVISED POSN. BR STD. SEP 2015/000083464 13.2.16 NOT SEEN IN M/B DATASET. (HI 1475, GARDLINE GEOSURVEY). FOUNDERED FOLLOWING COLLISION WITH SS SCHWALBE. CARGO INCLUDED: NAPOLEONIC FLINTLOCK MUSKETS, GIN, BRANDY, RICE, JEWELLERY, MACHETES, WINDOW GLASS AND A TOMBSTONE. (ENGLISH HERITAGE).
