BUILT 1883 BY CHATHAM DOCKYARD. 4 X 6 INCH & 12 X 5 INCH GUNS. WAS USED AS A TRAINING SHIP FROM 1902 IN NEWFOUNDLAND. RENAMED HMS BRITON IN 1916. SOLD AS A STORE HULK IN 1922. IN 1952 SHE WAS TOWED TO LEWISPORTE & USED FOR STORING SALT. SOLD FOR SCRAP AROUND 1972 & BEACHED IN COVE ABOUT 3M N OF LEWISPORTE, WHERE SHE WAS STRIPPED OF NON-FERROUS FITTINGS & BURNT. (SEABREEZES DEC'78 & SRN).
