BUILT IN 1944. WAS ON NORTH RUSSIAN CONVOY DUTY WHEN SHE WAS TORPEDOED BY U 992, TAKEN IN TOW BY HMS BLUEBELL AND BEACHED IN KOLA FJORD, NEAR MURMANSK, 7 HOURS LATER. (DODS, AXIS SUBMARINE SUCCESSES). REPORTED TO HAVE SLID OFF INTO DEEPER WATER AND SUNK. (WARSHIP LOSSES OF WWII). 12 LIVES LOST. TOW FINALLY COMPLETED BY RUSSIAN TUG. (R W LOOKER).
