Circumstances of loss
BRITISH NAVY CORVETTE, BUILT 1941 BY H. ROBB, WAS BOMBED AND SUNK BY ENEMY AIRCRAFT W OF THE STRAITS OF GIBRALTAR. THREE OFFICERS AND 46 RATINGS WERE KILLED. HMS MARIGOLD WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SINKING OF U-433, WHICH ITSELF HAD BEEN CREDITED WITH THE SINKING OF HMS ARK ROYAL. (DODS). SUNK OFF ALGIERS BY AERIAL TORPEDO AIRCRAFT. 49 LIVES LOST. (WARSHIP LOSSES WWII).
